Bare back favorite

We have a small flock of 8- seven hens and one rooster. Our problem is he has a favorite hen he mates with. He mates with all of them but poor Cotten is his favorite, and now she has no feathers on her back. What shall we do? We want to give her time to grow back feathers but not sure how to do that, suggestions and ideas are needed... Thanks

Put a saddle on her, see below. I've made and used several. Polarfleecr or sweatchirt fabric work well because they have a little thickness, stretch, and require no sewing. I don't bother with the tail hole. You might have to toss a couple that don't fit well before you get it right.

You can usually buy the in our BST forum, as well, for a few dollars, if you want something more attractive.

the feathers may not grow back til their next molt. A saddle will protect the skin and prevent sunburn.
