Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

I read in many places that they, in general take a while to lay so I wasn't too upset that mine didn't start laying until they were about 30-32 weeks. Some still are holding out but they are the ones who just physically appear to be maturing and filling out slower even though they are the same age as those laying.

Uh-oh. I know the feeling.

Your wellie girl now appears to be molting. Seriously? She hasn't even laid an egg!

Dunno. I think it's her mission in life to drive me crazy.

It's funny though, she paces the fence and challenges my dog. When my dog moves to another side of the fence, she runs over and stares her down, sometimes even flares her hackle feathers. It's hilarious to watch.

I also have 6 Barnie girls from Andy, from his two different breeding pens. As well as two pure Johan girls (from Johan) that are a bit younger than Andy's. Hopefully I will get some nice chicks in the Spring. I will have to take some pics of the girls and put them up as well. Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate the response.

I'd love to see the egg color as well as the pullets.

Here are two pics of eggs. First pic shows my first egg in center of plate. Second pic show 3 eggs in center left of dish. The pics are from my phone so the pics don't do them justice. They really are a nice rich reddish brown next to the Orpington and Australorp eggs. the pics

Bets are that if there wasn't a fence, she wouldn't be so full of herself.

I have a Delaware hen (Ms. TROUBLE) that lounges from the back of the run and full on dives the fence, 4ft up ('cause she got her wingies clipped and she can't make it to the top now to jump out) everytime I walk by the run, thinking she is going to get my attention this way and I will let her out......NOT! But it's funny to watch...especially when she realizes it didn't do her a bit of good.

Lovely egg color!

The 2 Johan girls I have laying now don't even lay a color close to that. Waiting for 2 more to start laying.

Sorry if no one answered your question but I do think that your gal is very pretty.

x2 She looks pretty nice in your pics.

Sorry we didn't answer your questions. I was at a Chickenstock yesterday, and then trying to figure out why my favorite new Barnie girl had a foamy eye. It was a busy day.

I hope you decided to enter her.
