Not as pretty as I was thinking but kind of cute. Thanks for posting

My first hatch is over and I have 5 new babies out of 6 eggs that went into lockdown. One chick that definitely has the white chest of a roo that I have read about here on the site. These are the cutest little fluffs I have ever seen. Eggs came all the way from Oregon to Virginia, so even though I originally started with 10 eggs I am counting this as a successful hatch. Here are some pics.

Today is day 21 for me... 4/8 Barnies from Trisha have hatched - 2 in the brooder, 2 still in the bator. The 2 in the brooder have white chests, not sure about the other 2 - kinda look white from what I can see. Is this a definite roo sign or sometimes not accurate? Hope I get a couple of girls... None of the other 4 have pipped yet.

I read a lot of posts here that mentioned the really white chest was an indication that it was a male. The one I have is definitely solid white while the others are a more mixed tan/gray/white. I will keep my fingers crossed for you to have a little of both. Good luck on the eggs that haven't hatched yet. Mine hatched on day 21 and 22. Post pics when you get a chance.

Here is a shot of the first 4 of 8 that have hatched from Trisha's Eggs. One more has pipped... Day 22 started around 6:00pm this evening.
Looks like all boys to me based on the breast down color. All are doing great! PLEASE let me get at least one girl...!

I have a chick that looks a lot like these and is supposed to be a dark brown egg layer...but it has dark grey legs. Can it possibly be a Barnevelder? Or is it an EE? From Ideal. Thanks!

Seriously though - were your chicks from Trisha? I know it can vary from line to line... and of course is not a definite regardless...
About when do other signs begin with Barnies? Comb, wattles, etc... What about feather growth the first few days - shoulders, tails and the like...?
