Out of the third hatch 3 out of 24 made it. I am pretty sure two are Roos and one is a girl. The biggest of the two Roos is sooooo funny. He is the first to run over and investigate everything while the others hang back. He also seems to like being picked up, settles right down in your hand while the others make a fuss. Problem is he has a "V" on his head, both of the Roos do the girl is smaller than them wo a "V" go figure!
Yay Tammy! My first broody is due Tuesday she's sitting on 17 eggs and the second broody on 14 eggs is due June 12th. My blue cockerel has starting to crow in the last few days and show intrest in the girls. He's LOUD but has a very nice rich "tone" to his voice. His first attempts at crowing actually sound really good LOL. I'm sure my neighbors will appreciate his singing,
Well... I only got 3 that hatched so far for this spring. Not very good odds.
What did I do wrong?
I had 4 to die that were fully developed except for the yolk sac not absorbed. ??? I used a Styrofoam egg carton during lockdown. Probably not enough air circulating. Next time I will use the "Paper mache" ones and will use a hole punch around the outsides to make sure there is enough air.
I have decided to order some from Christina Ledford. I am on Trisha's list for the fall also. Too bad Trisha couldn't send me some now
OK, I'M POUTING!!! Maybe these will hatch better.?.
I also have a baby chick with one crooked "finger". Does anyone know why and what could be wrong? Any suggestions for correcting it also? or leave it alone...
Thanks
