Hello! We are new to keeping younger chickens and I am worried this one (we already named it Charlie) may become a rooster.
Charlie was sold to us as a pullet, supposedly 1 month old, and we've had it for three weeks since then. I say "supposedly" because it didn't have adult feathers on its head or neck yet and I was under the impression that a month old Barred Rock would be almost fully feathered.
After looking at many pictures of young Barred Rocks on the internet, I don't think its comb looks "normal" because of how swollen red it is and the back feathers its developing that are sticking up is also interesting. I am also worried about its feathers being more white than black and how light its feet are. I hope I am just very paranoid! Is Charlie a rooster?
