Hi
We are new to the poultry world and now have seven Barred Rock chicks - six weeks old. Fun to watch them grow and feathers come in. At what age will we be able to distinguish the rooster from the hens, if we really have one?

Thank you

from PA! 6 weeks is still alittle young, but you can post some pictures and we'll try and give you an idea of what you may have!

Nice to have you join us here

Even at such a young age, you may be able to establish some kind or certainty as to what gender it is by some physical traits: females have darker coloring and a blackish wash on their legs. If you have pictures, it'll be much easier to tell.
