It didn’t work out as I hoped.
When the chickens got their treats they all went inside into the main run. I couldn’t divide the family/chicks from the 4 non broodies.

The family slept in the nestbox again. I was very tired last evenkng and went to bed early. I didn’t count the chickens and by husband who checked were the chick were sleeping didn’t miss Black.

This morning someone in our street send an app in our neighbourhood Whattsapp group with the question /finding a small chicken on her waste bin.

Black was not fine. She seemed hurt / in shock. My husband carried her home and we put her in the run with the other chickens.

I hoped she would get over it if she was safe and with her family / flock again. Took her inside. First I gave her some food (rice and mealworms) she ate good. She refused the water with apple juice. I did check if I could see a wound or something wrong. But I couldn’t. She might have hurt her hip, but Im not sure. I think it hurts when she jumps. She made a squeaky noise when she jumped of the table.

I put Black in the little coop now to recover from whatever is wrong. Hope some rest, food and water nearby is all she needs to recover.

I had really good news today. My shoulder is healing just fine. Surgery is not needed.
Time to start with fysio to prevent a frozen shoulder!
Glad to hear about the shoulder.
Poor little Black, she does look a bit down in the dumps poor girl.

Poor little Black. I hope she's improving.
I think Black is improving a little. She doesn’t lay down, but stands the whole time.

Black went to the covered run for a while this morning to drink and eat a little. Going up and down the easy ramp is no problem. Now she stays mainly in the little coop with the 2 nestboxes.

Black got company from Pearl, her ‘twin’ sister. First I thought that Pearl needed to lay an egg and choose the nestbox where Black was standing. But Pearl makes some peculiar prrprr prrrr sounds, she never makes when she lays an egg.

Mama Ini mini is attending the Amrock chicks. Last night slept on the roost in the small coop.

I'm glad to hear she's doing a bit better.
Have you seen her walk ? Does she limp ?
It's good that she's drinking and eating normally. She might need some extra protein to help her heal.

Does she not sit down or lie down at all ?
My chickens that are having a hard time to lay an egg tend to do that. Would that be possible in her case ?
Hoping she gets better and better 🤞.

I gave her extra mealworms and huttenkase (young white, not salty cheese).

She stands (or walks) the whole time. Sitting/laying probably hurts.

Black is one of the mothers and doesn’t lay yet.

Her condition was like this after she didnt return to the coop in the evening and a night out. I suspect she got hurt after a high jump/escape flight. There are no visible wounds.

She was about 120 meters away from home (4 houses/gardens in between) Black probably didnt dare or didnt know how to walk the longer way home around the block. Hope she will recover with rest and the company of her beloved sister.
