Last week I worked a little on the chicken coops and runs to eliminate a few flaws.
I stapled a piece of EPDM on the lower part of the playhouse coop where the rain came in that dripped down with North West storms. Now the rain is diverted to the soil. Hopefully the water doesn’t come inside the playhouse anymore.
After 10 years the wood on the bottom of the extension finally rotted so much that I needed to replace it. Never thought when I made the extension that I still have the original coop and chickens who need a safe coop for the night. This time I used bricks that can’t rot.
And the last problem: the thin hwc under the entrance of the largest run broke (rusted) where it hit the ground. I added sturdier hwc, but couldn’t finish the work bc the loam/clay soil is too hard to dig in after all the nice weather we had.
