Bento Box Fever!

What a great deal! It's nice when things turn out like that.

Did anyone else order the The Manga Cookbook Bento Box Gift Set from Amazon ? I preordered it for a 9/29 release and they apparently sold out the same day and now I'm on the waiting list and they say it should be available in March or April. Bummer!

The good news is that I was able to get a putifresh apple bento set from Ichiban Kan (amazing prices!). I went to the grocery store last night and bought sushi rice, nori, and furikake so I'm all set to make my first onigiri.

Shellie, I love the way you do your sandwiches. So cute!

ozark hen, I am constantly trying to figure out a better solution for packing applesauce. The large lidded container is too big for just applesauce, and the tiny one is...too tiny. I want them to make medium size containers with lids!

thanks. I learned from you to do my dh's sandwiches that way now. ha He had soup and ham/cheese/lettuce and homemade mayo the day before with a cupcake. he said it is easier for him to dunk his sandwiches when they are cut into fourths that way

that looks soooo goooood!!!

i sent my son off to school yesterday with the musubi shaped monkey clickety bento box filled with some rice, slices of "kamaboko" (fish cake) with the swirly design (i think the technical term is naruto) and then i cut up a cheese sandwich into rectangles. i used the newly acquired halloween picks to keep the sandwichs from separating and then topped it off with the jackolantern treat thingie which i put an eyeball gummy inside as his treat/surprise. he loved it and came home with an empty bento box. he didn't touch the fruit cup, but ate the fruit the other day when i had it already open with a pick, so i'm thinking if i want him to eat fruit, i better prepare it for him outside of its original packaging also. he didn't have any trouble opening a potato chip bag though...hmmmmmm.

If I put them horizontal across, I can fit 2 sandwiches. Vertically fits 1 1/2 sandwiches

I also want a medium container for stuff like apple sauce!! I'd buy extra sets JUST for those!
