I'm just curious....I won't be hatching because my parents say I can't have a roo. Whatever. So, for my 4-H project I am making an incubator. Is there any breed that has very successful hatch rate and are easy hatch? What breeds have you had luck with?

I don't think any one breed is better than another to hatch, but some are more fertile than others just because of heavy feathering. I have the best hatch rates with coturnix quail.

The best thing for a first hatch is to get eggs locally. Breed doesn't matter. You want eggs from mature hens not pullets and there should be a good ratio of roos to hens. Various breeds do seem to do worse when shipping compared to others but if you get them locally they are all pretty equal.
