Hello everyone!
I am looking for some mates for my handsome mallard drake, Quackers. For the past 10 months it’s just been him and his lady, Mallory. (Also a mallard.) He’s in need of some more ladies.

What’s everyone’s favorite (small) breed of duck? Best layers? Friendliest? Is it best to stick with mallards or is it okay to mix the flock? Looking for opinions!

I've not heard of that breed. What do they look like ?
They are a rare breed of duck that was developed in Australia, unlike Australian Spotted Ducks which aren’t even Australian (they have a bad name). They were developed as meat birds for the market.

You could mix the flock however, if you are trying to breed you ducks you may want to stick with one breed to ensure that they are purebred. If you do not care if they are purebred, anything should work. Welsh Harlequins are my personal favorites!

That drake is absolutely beautiful! I love the mallard coloring!
