I"ve settled on a plan that I actually feel comfortable with- I'll still work up the $300. Then I'll lead my pitch with the big tank, and if I don't get that, I'll fall back on the small tank. If neither of those get accepted, I'll be sad.
My next plans for the money are baby chicks or chicken run expansion.

I’ve never before kept fish, but seeing what a few people said about a 1 gallon tank... is just, wrong! No, you should never ever keep an animal in something so small- is awful! I know in the 90’s people kept them in bowls, it was normal, it was the thing. But THIS is why goldfish and other pet fish where earned the title of “short lived lives” with people who say they have a 2 month limit on life. This was probably just because the tiny size of the container got dirty very quickly, and the ammonia built up, killing the fish. They also have no room at all, it’s like locking your chickens in their nest box, and forcing them to stay.

@black_cat i know you say you want a ten gallon tank, and this is NOT aimed at you, you would never be ok with a 1 gallon tank, but I’m just posting this for anyone who plans to suggest a 1 gallon “tank” because that’s just not right.

Anyway, I do like your idea for beta fish, they are so beautiful and even if I don’t know anything about them, I would love to see you bring some home!
@swampfox440 why did you react with angry?

It is a possibility that I may get a betta fish. I am adding up costs and when I try to find a filter I see a lot of filter cartridges or refills but very few actual filters. What filters have you had success with for your betta?
I keep female betas in a tropical community tank. In my opinion the females are prettier and live longer and are easy to care for. and you can keep them together (SOMETIMES). Currently mine are in a 37 gallon with, 1 dragon fish, 2 mollies, 1 angel fish, 1 tele gold fish, 4 black skirted tetras, 1 silver dollar, 3 plecos, and finally 3 cory cats. lol.

That's cool :yesss:

I didn't know why you @Chicken gave me one . I don't give any of those because I think they are childish .
For the post @CHlCKEN quoted, there is an angry face reaction, and it says it was given by you (I can click on the reactions for the post and see who gave what-- I assume that would work for anyone.)

Maybe you meant to give the capital I for Informative, and accidentally clicked the angry one next to it? Or maybe you didn't mean to give a reaction at all, and just clicked it by mistake?

I’m still not sure I understand why you used it on my post, though. Was it intentional?

Why must it be considered childish for someone to be angry? It isn’t a reaction I’m very fond of either, and that I think BYC could do without, but my reasoning is different. I use it rarely if at all.

The reason I gave you one is because of what I stated below your post.

The size that you suggested is no longer considered even remotely appropriate for Bettas. They need at least five times that if not ten.

When I was a boy 60 some years ago these fish were sold in one cup of water in a round bowl . I started breeding them in ten gallon tanks . I then moved on to angle fish and started breeding them and selling on aqua bid after that I had many tanks large ones. one was a salt water reef and I learned to graft many types coral from a place called garf.org . These bettta fish are still raised in China in 1qt containers 1gallon is enough if you change the water every day . These betta are beginners fish one doesn't want to go out and buy a 55 gallon tank that cost a fortune for a single betta . Of course you would know this if you ever raised fish . Now I have to look at that ugly face every time I go to my home page and look at reactions there . I see you did no like it when I gave you one back how did you feel ? I even wrote an apology in this same thread and still the ugly face remained . Just because we have different opinions does not mean we have to go there . You didn't even give me the benefit of a doubt . You can go back and edit that i would be happy . I will edit my ugly face . Thanks , Mark ❤️

I’ll remove it if it really does bother you that much, I didn’t mean it in a harsh way.
