Bi- something or rather? What breed is this?

so these were purchased as point of lay pullets with the description of they might be a “bi something rather I didn’t pay attention to it she had three different breeds and these were on sale” any guesses on the breed? They were bought in Sannichton Vancouver Island BC Canada. They have grayish legs, little poofie crests, and are medium bodied. Sort of look barred to me.

Anyone know what they might be? The person who purchased them doesn’t know or care... but I’m interested.

Those look like legbar mixed with marans... which should be an olive egger.

Thanks! I said CCL cross at first too... and was told no, the bi part threw me though. I haven’t seen a clean legged Marans in our area, and the owner always buys brown Layers... but the little crest and I thought I saw a couple blue earlobes in the group too. Quite confused.

I too would guess a Cuckoo Marans over Cream Crested Legbars produced those. Although it is possible that Barred Plymouth Rocks were used instead of the Marans. But I don't think they are a pure bred, in any rate.

So ... the original owner doesn't know what they are, but knows that they are not part CCL? Hmmm. Iiiiinteresting! (I love a good mystery, lol!)

As far as the "bi" thing goes, my assumption is that the person thought (incorrectly so) that they were Bielefelder
