Big Ag and CNN are at it again

I don't see why every time these stories come out that people get their panties in a bunch.
I read the article and didn't see anything to get bent over, nothing that probably isn't true or nothing against keeping chickens.
You gotta figure there's probably a million people with poultry in their households now so that's very few cases in the big picture.
I didn't see anything outragous about what they were saying and the precautions mentioned are the same as many here would also suggest.
Storm the castle if you feel the need but I'll be staying home enjoying my birds.
Yeah even the small percentage that us BYC'ers comprise I think chicken related deaths are lower than the seasonal flu or lightning strikes on a per capita basis, heck, better odds to hit a powerball jackpot more than likely.

I'm sure in the down under cassowary deaths excede chicken keeper related deaths. https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/13/world/cassowary-bird-feathers-scn/index.html now there are folks that keep these in the US as well.....

So what was the point again? And why put "big Ag" in the title?
I didn't see anything about the "big Ag" in the article.
People are making it out as someone's out to get us poultry keepers or against us or whatever.
I didn't see anyone against anyone except this post being against CNN and big At. Why? Because they're warning people about safety?
Lots of newbies getting into poultry right now and lots have no clue. I hear about cuddling chicks and hugging and kissing them.
Lots look at them as pets and aren't making the wisest choices. I see nothing wrong with warning people about safety precautions.
I'm not gonna go after someone for that.

Okay look only in the last 30 years have then been oh my lord you will get a
disease from that .... I grew up on a cattle farm never was worried if we ate it came from the farm .. I sat in garden dirt and all eating my veggies, riding horses full tilt to the wind riding dirt bikes no helmets

Big Ag just wants us to buy their eggs and depend on them for supply. Big Ag is a big political group and gives advertising dollars to major networks. I am sure if you look up the plight of the indentured chicken farmers working for Tyson and others you may see more of the picture. If everyone can raise chickens how do those interests make money when we can go on craigslist and buy local without animal cruelty. Without poisoning watersheds from chicken waste and floods of their retention ponds? Without freshwater algal blooms as you see in the Floridian watersheds. There are so many examples.

But what do they have to do with that article? You really think they're the ones behind it or something?
Conspiracy theory? To me it looks like the CDC was responsible for it and that's the kinda stuff they do.
Im aware of Tyson chicken farmers and I'm aware of the egg industry. They're all making their own choices of how they want to make their living and this is America so I support them in being able to choose their path in life.
I don't have to agree with them or support their buisnesses or live downstream from them but i have that freedom.
To each their own. As a society we're always wanting to be in others business and wanting others to share our beliefs and values.
Life's too short and I'm enjoying it too much to subscribe to that way of thinking.

Its old recycled non-news.. like red wine is good for your heart, getting enough sleep improves your health. So informative! Ive got parrots, they equally carry salmonella, as do lizards, turtles, snakes, bad cooking.. *yawn*
