Big news in TEXAS this week!

Yes, I did. Then I went to the Texas HOR website, and viewed the calendar schedule for each day past the 21st. The House only has until the end of this day to complete their work.

Under the Texas Constitution, from the second Tuesday in January, not to exceed 140 days, in odd years is the Texas HOR in session. And although today is the 137 day, it appears that they have until midnight tonight based off of everything I have read on the site. No sessions, according to the HOR site are to held past the 27th, which is today.

I hope I missed something, and am wrong. I want this so much!

Thanks for posting that! I have been watching the bill and saw it was sent to "calendars" back on the 21st. My next reaction was what the heck is Calendars? I searched and didn't come up with anything. What is 4 calendars? So which one is it in?
And reading through that I can see why nothing happens over night!

The bill is not scheduled for a House floor vote on any of the schedules between the 21st and today. The bill seems to be either ignored, or stalled as unimportant. I don't know what is going on. It is no where to be found outside of being located on the Standing Committee Reports Appendix, favorable reports, 21st May, 2017.

I'm still trying to search, but there doesn't seem to be any responses from any representatives regarding this bill.

I hope this doesn't lay an egg. No pun intended.

Some bills die in committee. I am sure you have HOA's spending money to protest this. Angry old poodle ladies are rolling up to speak to their Representatives once they park their Lexus. You know the same one's that don't like too many flags to be in a yard. I hate HOA's. Can you tell. I specifically made sure I was out of the HOA.

BAD NEWS!

I just got off the phone with Senator Van Taylors office, the originating Senator. SB 1620 is DEAD. The House passed on this bill. It is done.

Now, there is another hope, and that is that the Senator attached it as an amendment to HB 4180. There are no guarantees, and per the Senators office, it doesn't look good, so for all intensive purposes, this bill is dead until 2019, if at all it ever comes up again.

Sorry to bring bad news.

Don't get me started on HOA's we have been looking to move primarily so we could have Chickens. Then this, and thought it was a done deal. Well if it doesn't happen I'll try and teach them to use their inside voice. Right!
ChickenManny our HOA has stated several times that state law trumps covenants. So let's keep pushing and find out what the heck happened if it dies.
I was also afraid that for most municipalities it was a mute point because lots already allow chickens and counties dont care. I live outside of the city and they can have chickens in the city, the the county has no ordinance one way or the other. It just this darn HOA!

According to the Texas voting record, HB4180 passed the Senate, with the Chicken Bill SB1620 as an amendment. HB4180 has already passed the House and according to the web site, the bill is headed to the Governor's desk for signing.

I'm calling Taylor's office back for clarification.

I called the Austin office and they are open. I did not call his office in Dallas. I do not appreciate being called or inferred to as a liar. I'm working hard to getting you the facts of this situation.
