black meat breeds, silkies ect....

xxx IThat's ok bluenkimchi,
Really glad though that you shared these photos of him. I'm sure he had the fm genes to eventually produce deeper..well.... much deeper fibromelonistic saturation in the meat and bones...he sure was as you show pretty light fibro.

I haven't yet harvested any of my silkie x BQO/Java. Wish I could share pictures of them here. I'd love to process one with nice clear carcass shots to compare fm saturation...though these are just f1...I'd really need to breed back into fm culling hard to see how deep they would get....

Still looking into the Smithies doing this. More work than I thought though.

I'm definately wanting to follow what's happening with your Hmong birds. I'd feel ver honored to have a breeding pair of them.

Lol...processing and showing his carcass of your roo was kinda like ripping a bandage off real fast...good for me to see and mentally process too.
Its what a friend would do too....thankyou bluenkimchi...I think we all learned a whole lot

I'd love to raise up different fm breeds and lines preserving and enjoying each for their particular unique characteristics. ...personality, size, broodiness, egg production, crowing voice, foraging and protection abilities, vigor and vitality....

Would love to see how you BQO X Silkies compare when ever you do harvest one.

Glad to share with everyone who haven't seen a Fm bird's carcass before, if they are just venturing into darker meat birds

Those Hmong I showed pics of earlier in the thread, are actually a pair. Black one, thought was a female, but it is actually looking more like a male now.

So, by spring, I should have some babies to offer those who have showed interest in the Hmong. I hope to get some from my friend back in CA too by then.

Eggs are tinted like a cream color. The Hmong are a very colorful land race(both males and females can be solid colored or a mix) and they range in their Fm pigmentation as well. One can be very selective and get very dark mulberry colored expressions, but not anything coal black as the ACs. Though, they would be perfect to cross to Cemani and Svart Hona for some diversity. They will also give those two mention some size as well.

This was my pair before, the roo had a pretty red face/wattle and comb, but rest of the body is Fm.

and some from Thailand with good fm expressions

Next year I might have some babies or eggs available, will let you know

These are gorgeous bluenkimchi! !!
Real eye candy!
I myself can't wait to get some eggs/chicks from you , so that I too can raise a few of these.
How much would you say on average that is does a full grown rooster weigh? I know as a landrace race there are much more variations in size than a cookie cutter breed mostly is found to be.

I'm really looking forward too to share and exchange eggs from my own black meat project birds. ...I've F2 in the incubator ...I know its early. ..but day 10 doing quite well. We'll see if I double up on already good fibro saturation.

Average light weight is about 3-5 lbs and on the heavier side is 6-9lbs. Still not really heavy, but they are really solid build for forest/free ranging and surviving the mountainous terrains/conditions.

Good luck with your birds and eggs, hope it goes well.

Oh I so wish I could share pictures here! Oh well, I just wanted to add that so far my first generation pullets hatched last May are laying turquoise blue eggs. So the ones I put in the incubator are going to hatch out of these are F2.

The roo is same breeding and about the size not the weight yet though, of my remaining Australorp rooster.

Pullets are medium sized at laying age....good fibro and are shades of blue to black feathered and dark grey to blackish skinned.

I'm hoping to pick the darkest fm saturation of F2 to breed out again to another deep fm breed.

I'm getting Svart Hona that I'll work on too...but why not see if they're genetics as well as the Hmong genetics won't be wonderful to add to these as a good start for a great utility,
Blue egg laying, bigger, black meat bird...
The other fibro breeds I'm adding will be preserved and worked on to deepen fibro...increase size perhaps...but all within their own breed/landraces.

I'm having so much fun with these projects and what I'm learning through experience. ..and I've just begun too.

What I'm doing with this project I've lots of freedom ....working on the existing breeds that are recognized fm though fun too I will take much more seriously...to honor them all as well establish a standard of quality hopefully others here will come to share in and enjoy too...
