Black oil Sunflower Seeds, In the Shell or out? How much and how often

I wouldn't push the luck envelope either. If you get a young crop filled with 15 BOSS, it might be an issue. Wait until they are 8 weeks old, that should suffice.
 
Yep, grains of any kind should not be fed until at least 8 weeks of age, and then kept at a minimum treat.

Please keep in mind that grit is needed if the flock isn't allowed to free range.

I choose to provide grit in a seperate feeder so less is wasted, and kept clean.

I feed my girls a small soup can of BOSS usually once a day.

They just love it.
They all start talking to me when they see me coming. When I first started they wouldn't eat it until the Rudy (the Roo) ate it first. Then he started to cacklet to them and now they don't get enough to suit them.
 
BOSS are also relished by my sheep, goats and horses as well. Everybody comes running when I shake a can of it. It's a wonder I haven't been trampled!
