Black oil Sunflower Seeds, In the Shell or out? How much and how often

I got addicted to raspberry tea,so i use the cup off the top of an empty tea container,and add about half-of atop full of dry cat food a couple time's .a week seems to increase egg production, So instead of 11 eggs i get 12.

I just gave my girls BOSS and they don't know what to do with it. Any hints as to how to get them to try it? Should I crush some up with a hammer first?

Feeding from your hand not only makes the flock tamer, but also builds trust. I would give them a favorite treat mixed with the boss to enable them to learn this a great treat.

Once one chicken does something, the rest will follow.

It's a pecking order thing. In my opinion....

My older hens LOVE the BOSS. My little ones havent had any as of yet... I am waiting til they are about 10 weeks before i do it.

In the winter I throw a bunch in the bedding.. it gives them something to look for and its highly visible, and keeps them busy!

I put some scratch in with it this morning and they ate it all! Thanks for your ideas! I love to give them healthy snacks and I love that this has good protien in it.

My chickens also love the sunflower seeds. My question is how do they know it tastes good? They just devour it and it goes straight to the crop.

I don't understand why they would like BOSS. The shell has no flavor and they don't shell it before they eat it. What would make them want to eat them? Mine won't eat them.
