Black silkies

I'd die if I had to have a c section! Dr told me 2 weeks ago if she didn't get into position, they'd have to do a c section....Thank god she was in position last visit....and I hope she stays there! I had my 1st baby at 16 yrs old....All natural. OMG the pain! The second (12 yrs later) I was induced and had an epidural..but only one dose before the "window closed" for another...I felt it ALL! OUCH! Then my 3rd baby, I was induced and I made sure they kept giving me the drugs lol. I didn't feel much of anything! Now this baby, not sure if he'll induce me or if she'll come on her own, but it'll be anytime & I plan on getting another epidural! I handle pain well in my opinion but labor pains...NO WAY! Bring on the drugs!

I hope you have an easy & quick labor! All that moving around and working in the barns will help I'm sure. My hubby took off 5 months ago on us & I've been responsible for EVERYTHING around here by myself....hoping my delivery goes fast also! Here's to a fast & easy delivery for all of us prego women on here

Ughhh nothing yet... definitely overcooked!

So far my chicks are coming along slow. 2 blacks, 2 blues, 1 white, and 1 faverolle so far. I was hoping on another black last night but darn thing just wasn't dry yet....turned out to be blue instead. 16 more eggs left in there with 'something' in them. Gotta keep my fingers crossed because last week I had 23 at this stage and only 7 alive now. 1 runty one died right away and the other 15 eggs were fully formed but never hatched.

Obviously I am bored....
here are the ones from today and some aren't fully dry yet:

Have a few other pics to share too.
here's a 2 week old super light blue/possibly going splash:

a 2 week old medium blue that I have high hopes for:

a really nice lil 1 week old buff:

Here's an oddball that's 2 weeks old. I swore it was going to be white, but the skin color was far too light to fit in with any of mine. Now as its feathering out, its the lightest buff I have ever seen.

here's a pic of it next to a white:

Uhoh Amy... You've spawned another new color,... should we call them "cream puffs" or "cream silkies"?

Knowing you and your fondness for AOV's, I see fun in your future.

Maybe it will surprise you and feather in darker at some point? Is this out of the buff holdbacks from 2010, or from older birds?

Let me guess, the castor oil is looking pretty tempting about now? I've also heard that raspberry leaf tea and lots of walking can kick in labor. Hmmmmm.

I have to go figure out what I've got to bathe for this show http://washingtonfeatherfanciers.webs.com/wffspringshow.htm next weekend.

I'm taking two blue pullets, two black pullets, a black cockerel, a white cock, and a white pullet as well as what will hopefully not be the token goose at this show (bringing one dewlap- rest stay home because it's close to breeding season). I'm not taking as many to show this time, taking more to sell.

Hope you start having lovely effective contractions. Have you even been having Braxton-Hicks contractions yet?

Ughhh no contractions whatsoever yet. Just a bad case of heartburn because I ate a brownie. Walking doesn't seem to be working.... I've lost 7 pounds over this last month and I'm actually in the same size jeans as when I got PG. Yeah I've been walking alot.

I was hoping to get this done and over with so I could make some of the local swaps this next weekend yet. Lil 'cremepuff' and pq buddies will be pawned off at those. At this rate, I'll have to wait til the Waverly IA swap in April to weed any out.

The buff pen consists of that cockerel I held back, the only pullet I saved from last year, and 4 of the older hens. Most of the babies have been coming out clear in feathering, but about half and half so far on skin coloring.

GL this next weekend! I know how busy you are with school and all too. I just sent off a check to Marge for Stephenson. I'll let her divy it up for awards.

Thanks Amy!

What? No creampuffs?

You know what will kick you into labor for sure?? Pack up all those birds and head to the swap. That's when you'll start laboring, because, you know, that's just how it goes. Any winter hatched blacks you have pictures of? I was just out wingbanding and sorting chicks deciding what to take to Monroe to sell.

Oh I drank that nasty Cod Liver Oil stuff and it didn't help at all lol... It was soooo nasty! Lol....
Now this was 24 years ago but I will NEVER put that stuff in my mouth again lol....

LMAO.... The only 2 AOV's that are in my barn even are there because my mom is helping me with chores with now. You don't know how tempted I am to bathe them up and get rid of them before she notices too. Dog food? jk...

The only pics I had of those oldest blacks were posted a couple weeks ago I think. I still have the pics on the main part of my photobucket page. Unfortunately those oldest ones were part of the group I moved out to the barn last saturday. All of those oldest december babies as well as the september babies from Sunshine Silkies got demolished by a pain in the butt dog this week. RIP Tonto.... So now the oldest babies I have left are in the garage pen and are maybe 2 months.

I thought with my luck I'd go into labor last night. Blizzard warnings out up here and most of the main highways were closed off early this morning. I cleaned out the garage brooder pens yesterday. I tried the swap in Hutch less than a month ago. Carried in lots of crates/tubs, bathed 10 birds, was on my feet all morning, and didn't phase me. Helped set up for poultry & pigeon shows at 5-6 months along. Lol I think that sort of stuff doesn't phase me anymore.

How cute! I read earlier about the toe punch (ouch) but I use zip ties to mark my chicks (and adults) there is a rainbow of colors, easy to put on and easy to take off and replace as they grow, come in lots of sizes and are very inexpensive

Update.... No rugrat yet and 5 days overdue. The doctor has the induction scheduled to start wednesday morning at 6:30 am. AT least there's an end in sight.

My chick never turned out so hot the other night. Only 1 more came out of the shell with a little help. 15 more eggs that had fully formed chicks in them but never pipped at all.
