Well it (ETA What I tried)sure as heck didn't work!!
I still had to blow really, really hard to try and get the yolk out, and I wasn't willing to make the holes any bigger. I guess I will need to got and get a syringe or maybe I will try the air compressor...OUT side of course!
ETA: I did this for a couple of Easters and it wasn't that hard to blow them out. Either I am getting old, or doing something really really wrong!

were they grocery store eggs when you did it at easter?? lol... i'm going to blame the super healthy home grown eggs... it's not you getting old or doing it wrong.. it's the chicken's fault....
the nice thing about the needle w/ the syringe is you can kinda swirl it around and break the yolk.. it might make it easier to blow out if it's a little scrambled already...
I got a few eggs blown out and cooked in the microwave.. some store bought whites and a couple brown ones from home.
Used a bunch of things to make the holes... a sewing pin was best, went straight in without cracking any of the eggs, and then you could chip away at the hole to make it bigger very easily.
Two holes, one bigger than the other and blew them out... USE A LARGE BOWL... I missed a little with the small bowl I had. All 3 of us blew eggs, DH & I found it pretty easy, DD not so easy but she did it. WE think the trick is to make the hole that the yolk is supposed to come out of larger than the one you blow through, and I think it is easier to blow into the pointy end of the egg.
So... I think I'll wait until I have a few more before I start decorating any... but I'm FINALLY getting started!
To everyone who is using syringes to blow their eggs out...
...do you have problems with them exploding?
The syringe method is a lot easier than blowing them out by mouth, but I had several eggs blow under the pressure from the syringe. Do I just need to go slower? Any tips? Also, I kinda had a hard time poking thru the egg without cracking it somewhat.

evonne...I'm not sure actually...I am pretty sure they were store bought because we didn't have chickens then. These are store bought though because our chickens aren't laying right now
Isn't it so much fun when they explode in your hands?!
No seriously, you are right about why they are exploding. Ya just have to go slower at first then after you get a little of the egg out you can apply more pressure faster. It is just something you learn with experience and after awhile it does not happen anymore. I don't know how big of a hole you are willing to make but bigger is always better to get the egg out and also you will get less of those small cracks around the opening of the hole if it is bigger. I have never made my holes with the syringe. I am always afraid it will slip and I will stab myself. Get some of those push pins/ thumb tacks that have the clear tall plastic handles on them. You will have alot more control that way and less cracks.
Hope that helps!
I was trying to figure out how to make something like Missprissy did with the skewers and styerfoam but all the skewers I found were really fat and have yall checked the prices on styerfoam lately? It is too expensive for what I want it for. I was telling my DH what I was needing this Saturday and I loved his idea. These pics are what he came up with. I left my eggs on there so I could get everyones opinion. Do yall think I need to add another coat of Mod Podge or leave them how they are?
I put the vase inside a mason jar cuz until I get something like sand in the vase to make it heaver, it wants to fall over. The wire is top heavy.
Closer look.
My little boy wanted me to take a picture of him. He loves my camera and its LIGHT! lol

Thanks for your reply Elizabeth. And great pics! Neat idea with the wire.
I'm not gonna lie...the explosions freaked me out a little....seeing as I was using a syringe w/ a 16 gauge needle and all!
It was kinda cool tho, when the pressure got really high stuff started seeping out of the pores in the egg shell.
Could you describe how you poke the hole w/ the tack? Do you just push it in fast, or do you have to work it a bit? Then do you chip away to make a bigger hole? Enlighten us,
algopurple. lol
So far, I've gotten the best holes in my eggs using a power drill...
