Any one going to a poultry show this weekend? There are many all over the country. If you do take pictures of some of the rare breeds for us. Get the names of the owners for us.

There is one big one in Minn , Calif that I know of. Walt of course is at the Calif show and Charlie called me last night at the Minn Show.

If anyone is a member of the American Bantam Assc. there is a excellent article on Fertility in the Fall newsletter. One of the best I have read in years.

I am putting together a new method of line breeding and using birds for up to four years. This opens my eyes on my older birds if this will work or not or I should use older females rater than older males. Have a great Saturday.

I dont think so. You have to be a member to get that or have someone make a photo copy and mail it to you.

I found a good book by Mr. Wid Card on my search on Line Breeding.

He talks about new beginnners and old beginners. Interesting read.

If you get on this site type in the breed or subject you are intersted in its loaded with classic old poultry books.

Archive.org is a gold mine of old books. All sorts of wonderful old poultry books and periodicals on there, and most is in multiple formats.

I know you have waited just as long as i did! Well you be using population breeding with this line?

Not right away. I will inbreed first, then linebreed. Once I get to know the strain and get type set, I can work on population genetics. I know that sounds kind of odd, but I think population genetics is best served if type is set first in my flock. I think I am already 80% there. First, I just need to understand the genetics of this strain as I am new to it ..
Best,
Karen

Nice read. It always amazes me that so many of these old texts are available at our fingertips.

Hello! I am always stalking the silkie thread but I got this handsome man today as a boyfriend for my girls

The farm didn't know anything about him, someone gave him to them to give away. So, is he a barred rock or a dominique? And how does everyone think he looks?
