bought eggs but seller hasn't shipped yet! NEW UPDATE!

Wow, what a super bummer.
I have never had an egg issue as described but have had them with other items purchased at online auction sites.
I got stiffed and I didn't get a refund as the amount was under 50$.

I have never used Ovabid, I dunno, I don't get a good vibe there.
Eggbid seemed cool at one point, I got some great Ray Valentine wheaties there, but it folded.
Ebay works but you have to do your due diligence and check the references.
I have had excellent results here @ BYC. Every seller has been attentive.

Okay, so she replied this.

Very sorry, I have been out of town. A friend was in a pretty bad accident and I was trying to help. My husband was taking care of things here at home and did not realize I had sold anything on Ova bid. I will get your order out Tomorrow with extras, if you still would like them. Thanks

So what should I do? I'm kinda concerned about accepting anything from her. I'm not really sure I can trust that the eggs she sends me will be viable.

Can you ask her if she will personally guarantee them and give you a refund if they don't hatch? Sort of giving her the benefit of the doubt. I don't have experience with Ovabid or paypal. Good luck...

Her story could be true. I sell eggs and one day while building a chicken coop I cut my fingers off, and spent 4 days in the hospital, I also had people waiting for me to ship eggs , everyone was very understanding, and I got my eggs out the day I got home. I guess I like to try to believe people and things do happen. But if she doen't send them real quick then I'd file a complaint.

Boy oh boy that almost sounds like my experienxes to a tee. In my case the daughter got real sick so every thing went on hold. When I didn't get any responses I filed a complaint with paypal, then I heard from her and she explained every thing. I felt so sorry for her and her kid, I cancled my complaint. Guess what. I finally tracked her down through a phone number for her mom. Don't ask how I did that. Her mom passed the message and she finally emaild me a nice loooong letter saying how sorry she is and all the problems she is having and she would refund my money. Well to this day she has not sent the refund or the eggs, and I am back to emailing her again and again with no response. I believed her and now there is nothing I can do because I canclled my dispute with paypal . My advice is don't cancell until you are satisfied one way or the other. Once you cancell you can't reopen it. Good luck to ya.

When I had my experience with the eBay scammer, his excuse was that he was out of town and his wife dropped the ball. Come on! All it takes is a phone call..."Honey, could you ship these eggs or email the buyer please?" Not to mention most people have internet access even if they are out of town.

I would ask for a refund, who knows how long eggs have been sitting around - that she might grab just to fill the order. Doesn't sound like her husband knows anything about the chickens.

Nobody can guarantee hatching eggs. Sellers don't know the buyers anymore than buyers know the sellers. The best thing to do is follow it up and leave negative feedback. I know I always look to see the feedback and something like that would keep me from doing business with the seller. Enough negative feedback puts the seller out of business or makes them more responsive to customers. Buy from sellers using Paypal too, because they have to be responsive to customers or Paypal will pull their account. When you buy eggs online, wait for the hatch before leaving feedback. People never do this and you have people just sending infertile eggs. Any moron with a tool shed and a few birds can go into the egg selling business. All egg sellers will have the occasional infertile eggs, but a pattern of that, or customers forced to wait, is a red flag.
