Brabanters and Spitzhaubens--The Differences PIC HEAVY!

Pics
Yes I really like their personality and it will be difficult to cull them. That time will eventually arrive but like Ewe said you can't tell until they are well developed. I sure am glad that I got the little buggers though because they are so much fun to watch.

I love you alls birds, and it is a breed that I want so bad,,,but I only have room for 4 different breeds and I have a combination of about 82 of those.....maybe...I'll build some more aviaries and go for it though.....does anyone know of anyone in Va. that has them??

Brabanters....I dont know but would not be surprised if there are any.
Spitzhaubens...nope, no one in VA.

I don't know of anyone that has Brabanters, but there is a lady in Md. that has Spitz youngsters. Also through the grapevine I've been told of another lady that has a small flock of Spitz not too far away. They are around. It's just finding the people as they aren't on BYC.

There are two Spitz breeders near me that bought some of my birds and I can not wait to incorporate those two lines together.

I saw some Spitzs at a local fair. Their smallish size surprised me. While they weren't to standard for breeding stock, they were most engaging birds.

How are everyones' Spitz and Brabanters growing out this summer? I hope there is some forward progress.

The Ideal Hatchery and Gabbard Spitz birds are smaller while Carla OK's Spitz are larger in sizes.

Never had the chance to raise any this year, was focused on more on the Welsummers.

My six pullet Brabanters are still very cute in the nursery. I need to keep them there until they are to big to slip through the chain link fencing. Maybe I'll add additional protein to their diet.

I hatched and bought several gold Brabanters this year. They are coming along well. I only had to cull a few.

I also hatched some Spitzhaubens. Seven chicks, and of course four were male. I needed another rooster, but unfortunately I kept the wrong one. He is not maturing the way I hoped he would. Maybe next time.

AWWWWW bummer, Carla! Wished you could have a good roo to go with your girls and upset that roo vs hens ratio. Seems like there are more males than females lately.
