Brabanters and Spitzhaubens--The Differences PIC HEAVY!

Pics
Don't tell my other chicks, but right now the Brabanters are my favorites. They're so cure & friendly. Here's another pic showing how their crests are growing. I can't wait to see them full grown. Don't tell my husband, but I almost hope for a boy so that I can hatch more cute babies in the future

IDEAL called and reported that they had Cream Brabanters available. What could I do but say yes ! So three day later I have 17 chicks. Now I did not order that amount so I am asking for suggestions on the other fuzzy butts included ?

Is this a Golden Brabanter or Black Orpinton or what ? What am I ? He is sweet also but.......

The first pic looks like Golden Brabanter.

Second pic looks alot like either Black Australorp or Black Giant. Ideal does not have Black Orpingtons.

Thank you for your answer. I perused Feathersite and the chicks pictured under Australorp and Jersey Giant have a lot more yellow on their bellies than the ones that I have. Then I went to the Ideal Site. The second chick reminded me of my Dominiques when they were chicks. Ideal has a breed that they developed called the Production Back which is a combination of several breeds but looks like a smaller P Barred Rock. I'm leaning toward that guess but I would like to keep you posted as they grow.

This chick/chicken addiction is awful. It is so interesting and and easy to acquire birds. Much more entertaining than acquiring other "things"

The 1st picture is your Brabanter. So cute! I also got a message that although the Brabanters were listed as sold out until last year, they still had a few hatching. I'm glad I went ahead & got them. I love their personality, although I am starting to worry that one may be a little TOO friendly.

Jenn-E How old are these babies in this picture ? Are they Cream or Golden and do you have a picture to post to show how they have changed ?

I have Cream Brabanters. The last pic was about 3 wks old. They are now nearing 5 wks old. They still have the best personality. Here are some pics from this evening:

This one has the biggest crest (probably too big for the standard). She's the most shy.

Here's a group shot of the 3 with the smaller crests:

A close-up of a smaller crest:

As curious about the camera as everything else:

Thank you for the pictures ! They are so cute and they even look like they are calm. I can't wait for my little babies to grow up more so I can watch the different personalities. I guess that mine are golden even though I asked for cream. Not sure if it makes any difference to me yet.
