About a week ago this chick (2.5 weeks old) started limping, thinking it was a sprain we examined her and found her leg to look just like her other, no heat, no discoloration, no bend, no swelling, it appeared normal. However 2 days ago I noticed some redness and some swelling near the top of her metatarsal bone, so I applied a splint and watched for any worsening signs. Decided to remove the splint today and a bend in her leg (bend started to appear before the splint was applied) and now purple discoloration is visible along with still limping. She’s eating and drinking regularly and I have all my chicks on corid for a preventative treatment right now. However her tail is down, and she holds her wings lower than the other chicks. Hoping someone can give me some helpful advice for her.

Does it hurt her if you touch it? It could have broken or maybe the splint was too tight?
it doesn’t appear to hurt her, and the splint had give, it didnt cause this (applied splint after the discoloring and swelling occurred)

Leave any splints off. Tape or vet wrap can slip and become tight especially if there is swelling. Unfortunately, splinting can sometimes do more damage if circulation is cut off. I hope that she recovers. Make sure that she can get enough food and water, and not bullied by others.

Splint is off, and so far she’s not getting bullied and is eating just as much as the rest
