It looks like a Light Brahma to me :/

alrighty it's been a while and i had to give up my Standard Buff brahma hens they weren't laying yet, were huge in size and were stressing out my laying producers. Then I ordered some Light Sussex chicks, But to me they look like Light brahma. What do you think I have never seen a light sussex with feathered feet before. maybe a light sussex, light brahma cross the feathering on their feet is nothing like a pure brahma should be. and at 8 wks are finally growing in tail feathers.
sorry not very good pics they are a lot more stand offish then every one else also little bullies, i had to separate the little cockerel because they were picking on him and his tiny compare to them. But here are some crappy pics. Please excuse the yellowing they got into something earlier that day that made them yellowish in some places.

don't exactly look like light brahma either, columbian pattern , feathered feet, but head not what i would call brahma, can't be sure tho.

I have 4 Dark Brahma girls who are 2 months old now. I'm considering Gold Laced Brahma hatching eggs and can't seem to talk myself out of them the past 2 months. There are several auctions on Ebay, I know some of them are on this forum also. If someone could direct me to some nice quality Gold Laced I would greatly appreciate it.
Most of them say "Dan Powell" lines, but does Dan Powel himself sell hatching eggs? I know he's the one that introduced this color. It's beautiful. I would like to make a yard just for this breed if I can find some. Feel free to PM me if you don't feel comfortable posting any info publicly.

Dan Powell liquidated all his stock earlier this year and went out of the chicken biz. There are alot of people out there selling project eggs for gold or buff or silver laced Brahmas, understand that even Dan Powell who developed the buff laced, or Gary Imwalle who developed the silver laced still refer to these birds as projects.....works in progress. Many who bought these birds or hatching eggs are selling eggs but some are not taking the concept of a work in progress seriously. If you are looking to raise some of these , understand that you are taking on the comittment to evaluate each breeding bird for adherance to the national standard for Brahmas and to severely cull to help develope the perfection strived for. Most people selling eggs show thier very best birds but you may not always be getting eggs from the birds shown. In my experience what you will hatch will be nice but less than perfect birds that can be used to forward the project. Good luck

Thanks for the great information! I have no plans to breed or sell eggs, what I want is a beautiful nice-tempered group of them for just us.I do know where you're coming from. I'm seeing some birds that even to my inexperienced eye don't look very "Brahma".

I agree.... but add....
Chickens are not like puppies, where the breeding turn around is quick. My first Brahmas didn't begin to lay until nearly 8 months old. When evaluating some of the Buff Laced (and I do have some) it is important to only keep breeders that show the best characteristics of coloring AND breed. Only keeping the best chickens from each hatch can ensure the betterment of the breed (for both project birds and "full breed" birds. The addage, you get what you pay for is important, as I would always cross-refrence BYC with Ebay purchases as one of my "show quality" Buff Brahma hatches came out with slate legs.....

That, and the sparse leg/foot feathering makes me think probable Brahma/Sussex cross.

I've been playing around with various colors. What do you think? The chicks in the top pictures are solid white except for a black spot on the back of the closer one. The bottom picture is a blue.
