Any recessive white in their backround ?
These were never a part of my breeding program, so I'm not sure of their backgrounds. I got the light Brahma roo from eggs I bought from someone here on BYC several years ago and the black Brahma girl also from someone here last year. She is supposed to be fifth generation Brahma, but I am unsure of what else. She started laying her eggs in a unique area, so I decided to incubate some of them. I got various shades of blacks and then these two whites.

It was about a year ago when I became addicted to Brahmas. I so far have three adult birds and from them have gotten 11 chicks and hopefully will get six more to hatch Monday. Next month I will be hunting down some lights to get bigger buffs. I have been told I am an animal hoarder. O well there standards of living are much higher than hoarder animals. Brahmas are by far my favorite breed of chicken.

That Light Rooster is quite handsome. I can't wait until mine grows up. Mine doesn't even have tail feathers yet and the comb and wattles are barely there.

The Blue Brahma is fun. I agree, the more color patterns there are of Brahmas, the more fun!

I have a white Brahma. Well, it is white so far anyway. (Hoping it may turn out to be a Blue Columbian though!). Big chick, too!

I have a few other Brahmas..... Buff Laced and Gold Laced Brahmas......

I culled down to a trio of Buff Laced and a pair of Gold Laced. These are the females I thought looked the best. LOVE THEM ! ! !

Hello Brahma folks! I'm fairly new to chickens, going on my 3rd year as an owner. My broody mix-bred hens hatched a few barn yard chicks last year, but I'm a bit of a freak and the mixed breeds did nothing for me. I sold them and ordered some Light Brahmas from McMurray last year. They seem to be big healthy birds, now about 13 months old and have been laying great, even during the winter. I know little about ideal bred spec ect and would like honest opinions on my flock and ideas suggestions on how to look and bred for ideal spec. Heck if your going to breed chickens of any kind, I say try to do it right. I may be in over my head now tho, lol..... I ordered Salmon Faverolle eggs and the order was short so they subbed some Dorking eggs, 4 of them. 4 of any type is not enough, lol.. So I rec'd 8 additional Dorking eggs from a different supplier this morning, waiting to start them either late tonight or tomorrow. BUT back to Brahmas. I saw BLUE Brahmas, OMW I want them. Buff as well, then on here I saw Gold lace. I was seriously considered adding Wyandottes, just for the Gold lace. So happy I came across this forum and all the info there is to find and share!! TY BYC peeps!!! I'm going to stick with the 3 breeds I'm working on for now as I need time and space to do things right. But would love to ponder adding something different or seeing if the Dorkings are right for me, maybe replace them later for different Brahmas, I'm not sure if the comb on the Dorkings will withstand Maine winters. So can anyone give me a run down on what colors Brahmas come in, standard only. I live in Maine which can get very cold and loved how tough and productive these birds were for me last year. I hatched 12 out of 15 eggs set, 3 weeks ago and have some more brewing now. Oh and my fertility rate has been amazing with 11 hens to 1 rooster. Here are a few pics, I took them just for fun so maybe not good enough to judge type. I am looking for some thought on the quality of these birds, are they something I can start with? What I can do or add to improve them as a breed. Thanks!!!! Fun, fun!!!!

I don't know how to answer your question, but I got my Light Brahmas from McMurray hatchery too. Mine are 12 weeks old. Mine seem to have a lot of black on them where it is supposed to be white, but maybe that will change when they molt. So how long did your rooster take to mature? Mine is really slow. He is 12 weeks, no tail feathers, no crowing, and comb and wattle is barely developed. But I like the temperament of my Brahmas from this hatchery, they are the friendliest so far. I'm sure people will recommend non-hatchery birds for breeding purposes. You might need to buy some eggs from a good breeder.
