Well by dark Brahams are laying eggs so I must have two hens for sure.

I should add as back yard layers. I try to point out to the prospective buyer why each bird did not make the cut. Be it various physical features, (or maybe lack there of ), color, or pattern. You might as well be talking another language to most folks, all they care about is that it won't affect how they lay, and darn they're pretty, but I feel better.
I do the same thing and they are like but she is so pretty.
Yep, that's what happened to mine too. The Hen then just dug in cause it was so yummy, but she wasn't the culprit. Sometimes when they are so young too, they would move them around so much they'd accidentally crack them and then another would sit and break. My light brahmas are 10 months now and rather clumsy with their eggs, so I've seen the yolks on them too,but they are really good if the shell is hard. It seemed to happen mostly with the soft shells. Good luck!I was not home to get them and then found out the next day a Squirl has also beein going into the coop so Maybe she is doing good I normally gather eggs 4 times a day last egg is laid by 4 pm
Talk about the nail in the coffin. Today I walk out to inspect these new "Brahmas" a little more, and find a green egg.
And I'm sticking with my Marans influence theory as well, which would turn a blue egg layer into a green egg layer. (Which would be true of any brown egg layer, but the type and leg feathering makes me think Marans.)That crosses my mind when I see pea combs and slate colored legs,
It probably is an Easter Egger. An Easter Egger is a bird that lays a colorful egg; not really a breed. They frequently are Ameraucana based, but don't meet the standard for that breed, such as having the proper ornamentation. Some hatcheries have confused the issue by selling them as one in the same. The good news is that you don't have long to wait to find out.
