Tim If i have to euthanize my birds it will be about 6 months before i can actually get show birds again the chicks i bought as day olds from a show breeder cost me a fortune patron and his girls i was blessed with they have been vaccionated for this and other diseases .

i will need a good mentor and promise no one on my property ever .

is there a good list for things to have on hand

like different Vaccines and meds that should always be in my Bird Fridge where i will have anything i need for them ?
The reference you provided specifically states "vaccinated and un vaccinated birds should not be mixed".

I have a Question i have asked the Vet he was unsure of the answer I dont think so is not good enough for me right now

i have 100 eggs in the incubator i placed in there just before the guy showed up like they are pipping today i am looking for info on this

will the chicks since i believe the guy gave me the disease would could they be bad too ? according to the vet he said that he did not know if this disease transfers to the eggs ,
Im thinking if Jerk boy did not give me this disease but my gut tells me he did since he just showed up birds where tested for npip before and where clear of everyhting and now sick i am pretty sure they are safe but jessie has been sitting on eggs in the nest box too ...................... i am sure i should just go smash those but i am at the what if
I agree. Calm down til you get a diagnosis. Npip has nothing to do with this disease. It is for two Salmonella enterica subspecies. Bacterial, not viral disease.

ILT can come from wild birds too...just an FYI, had a go around with it that cost me the majority of my flock at the time about 15 years ago.

My light brahma Ophelia is having some feather issues. I think she's going through a molt (this is my first bird to molt! eek!) but her feet feathers have been gone for a couple months. I can't see any sigs of mites, bumblefoot or anything else but I do notice her picking at her feet. All the stems (?) of the feathers are left and there's a couple spots that are a little bloody. I've been trying to put vaseline on it, however she is not the friendliest hen in the world and is not very appreciative of this act. Any idea what's going on?

Good point. I was just trying to point out there were several logical possible sources other than "jerk boy".

I have 8 adult Dark Brahmas i have 8 young in another pen on the side of the house the birds that are showing signs are all the young Dark Brahmas .
So far no email or call from Vet or the Lab On pens and needles here
3 weeks ago Jerk boy showed up i started noticing the young D brahmas some not eating thought ok made a mental note to keep an eye on them that was the only area he got into my concern is my routine

1 Get feed and water into Both pens
2 let out junior brahmas
3 let out the adult brahmas
4 treats from garden

the only thing i did 2 days before the symptoms started was both flocks got a head of lettuce
thats it

i understand that Jerk boy may or may not be the cause but as nervous as he was his lie he knew Roy when he had just shown up there on his craigs list ad that eased my mind since i did not have any birds listed just day old chicks and then 3 weeks later my birds are not well the fact he did not want to give his last name . My camera got his license plate thats how i know all his info . just does not make sence why would anyone want to just show up with no call nothing and want birds lie about knowing someone when he did not and then have an issue with his own birds he used the excuse his birds died of a dog attack well OK but why was it not reported to the police ?

I did not know they had been Vaccinated for this until i told John I had possibly gotten this disease . he is Partons breeder

I think im going to just buy eggs from people if that is the safest way to go
Lots of things can be transmitted down through eggs and they aren't as reliable. There is always some risk. I try to go through long time breeders that come with good reference, and inspect the (preferably adult) birds first. Reason being that chicks and young birds are more susceptible to diseases, adult birds gets you past those windows of vulnerability. I realize this isn't always a possibility due to scarcity of breed (although thankfully we now have some good Darks in the NW (Bob Anderson) and at least one good Light Brahma source (John Tenneson), no buffs yet although I know a couple people are working on tracking down some nice ones.) Personally I will also ask if birds have been vaccinated and not buy if they have been. Losing birds to disease sucks and is hard period, sorry you're going through it, especially ILT (if confirmed) that is nasty and quick killer.

Ive talked to Mr Andersen he Told me he was the only seller of Show dark Brahmas in the NW besides The guy in cali

I also had a couple that beat out allens chickens from someone else who got them from NY My birds at the time where in Ny Patron came from MY as a 6 month old cockeral with 3 hens

Id rather go straight to allen then rob as I do not like those high egos i think ill get more eggs from him as well

I was going to ask you guys about Suzan Sunshine ? many seel to like her birds and i am still on Pens and needles here

i will need at least 6 months of heavy cleaning new coops and so one before i will even buy eggs but i think that is how i am going to go is Eggs
start with 2 dozen or 4 from one breeder .

I wont give up im going to have my older birds tested for the disease and if clear move them to the other side of the yard and i will still have John N birds if they are clean if not ............ they are amazing and well put together . Ill get more eggs from John but the vet did tell me to go for eggs and the only vaccine i should use is Mereks . what do you all think of that vaccine

Bob's not exaggerating when he says that sadly. I've known him for almost 20 years. Very good breeder, if anything he's too modest about his birds (at least always has been with his Cochins).

If you trust the breeder, try and get chicks over eggs, hatch rates on shipped eggs are dreadful, it's kind of like burning money imo. If you trust the breeder day old chicks are no more risky disease wise than eggs.

As far as Marek's vaccine, I wouldn't bother. It doesn't hit all the strains of it anyway. Kind of like a flu shot for humans or kennel cough for dogs.
