I have these 2 Brahma Icelandic pullets. I guess this means they are a cross breed? Can anyone tell me what their markings are called? They are about 27 weeks old now.
yes when you cross to breeds you get a cross breed. No longer a pure breed. Sense they are mutts, I would just say that their coloring is light blue and dark blue

here is a closer picture of her Cccccccchicken!

Thank you cccccccchicken! the man had a yard full of Icelandic looking hens and roosters but I didn't recall seeing any Brahmas.... I was wondering what he was talking about. Obviously I can't find anything under the breed Icelandic Brahmas or Brahma Icelandic. he told me these were very special Birds very rare breed in Canada and not for meat. I could understand that if he was talking about the true Icelandic.

the lighter colored one is silver with a black head and looks like its lacey as each feather is edged in the darker color of its head. the other one is much darker gray and the same thing with the edging on the feathers.

they seem kind of unique to me. Has anyone ever seen chickens quite this colored way?

Well I am not from Canada nor have I ever been there, I also have never raised icelandics. Maybe there is a new breed in the making that I have not heard about yet.

and this is why I am stumped. Icelandics are not very common birds around here. An East Indian fellow sold them to me at 1 day old. I did choose the two solid colored chicks that I wanted.

I live on the south coast of British Columbia and I can keep all sorts of hens. although most of the people I know I only have Jersey Giants I had to hunt all of my hens down from breeders.

4 of my babies I got from 1 breeder that I would never buy from again as one developed sprattle legs within a few days and the second one turned into the biggest meanest barred rock roo you ever saw! still hoping my RIR is a pure breed from a different breeder and not a production. my light Sussex is beautiful as is my barred rock lap hen from the breeder I won't buy from again.

getting fantastic egg production from the last 3!

now I know icelandics are slow developers and these two are. However are Brahma slow? when do they start laying eggs?

This is sad......I didnt know where british columbia is. I goggled it. It is not the breeders fault that a chick you got developed spraddle leg after you had already bought it or that the barred rock ended up being mean. Yes brahmas tend to be slow developers. And I dont know when then start laying. I dont have any pullets or hens.

I have been experimenting with my blue partridge Brahmas, breeding them to two black Brahma hens that I have. This is what I have been getting.

Yes Sjisty that is what they look like! Maybe mine aren't the Icelantics at all.... hmmmm I still think that they'er most adorable and calm. Btw, last night the little silver one let me put my hand on her back and she crouched down into "that" position. in my experience that means she's sexually mature and will start to lay eggs within the next couple of days to weeks.

I am glad that I do not have some strange bird nobody's ever seen before thank you.
