Unfortunately I am not going to be able to get the 15 chicks in April. I have a man going to meet me at the show on March 1and bringing some Dark Brahmas. Does anyone else who raises LF brahmas plan on attending the Unifour chicken show? If so I would like to be able to work something out so I could meet you there.

Never mind I found my answer.

Yeah it is in Rowan county NC. I know a lot of people attended the past few times I went. Maybe some unexpected brahma breeders will show up. I am glad I got Wil bringing me some Darks. Maybe before the show I can find someone else.

Last year I bought a GQF cabinet incubator. Would it be worth while to buy eggs from someone and take the chance on being broken or the shipment being rough or is it just better to buy chicks?

I know this was a couple of pages go, but as someone who just recently returned to chickens and got suckered into shipping in eggs...don't do it. You might as well set the money on fire and watch it burn.

As others said buy the best adult stock you can possibly afford and hatch your own from them. I see by your other posts you got ahold of Wil, he's a good guy and usually has quality birds.

Oh thanks for the heads up. Yes I am getting Darks from Wil he is very helpful. I wonder how I could reach others who sell adult brahmas? Most will only sell eggs/chicks

You're dealing with amateur breeders then. Most good breeders will only sell juveniles or adults. I suggest joining the Brahma Club, or contacting the District Director for the Brahma Club in your area at the very least: http://www.americanbrahmaclub.org/club-officers.html

If you are in N.C., Darlene Hobbs is the district director for that area. I bet she will be at the show. Her contact info is on the link Matt provided.

I am in East Tn but I go to the NC shows. I found her contact info I will call her in a little while and see what I can do.

OK, I guess I assumed you were in N.C. anyway Tennessee is in her district as well. She will point you in the right direction. Don't forget to join the Brahma club!
