Breed Discussion #1: Silver Duck Wings

Duckwing refers to the triangle feather pattern on the wing, where the end of the wing matches the hackle and saddle feathers. Only the males actually display this pattern.

Edit: to clarify the bird posted there is a Fawn Duckwing, not a Silver but of the same breed. The white part of the wing is the pattern.

Thank you for clarifying that. Any day I can learn something, is a good day! And that is a beautiful bird. Next question: Are all duckwings bantams, or do they also come in LF size?

Come in LF too, but they might not be recognized, not sure

No problem! I did my research as I am getting into this breed ha ha. Duckwing is a color pattern that comes in a few different breeds. This post is about Old English Games, they come in both LF and bantam sizes

Other accepted breeds in Silver Duckwing are American Game (bantam), Modern Game (bantam & LF), Araucana (bantam & LF), Japanese (bantam), Phoenix (bantam), Rosecomb (bantam), & Welsummer (bantam).

Duckwing is a variety, many breeds come in silver or gold duckwing. For example, brown leghorns are gold duckwing.

That's what hatcheries call them, but they are just called silver for the standard. There is no duckwing on the colors.

They’re still genetically duckwing. Just not labeled as duckwing on the standard.
