Breeder Pen Designs *Inspire Me*.

In a totally different direction;

I would do only one bottom frame with pressure treated wood, attach 3/4" PVC with u-clips and use electrical PVC corner sweeps at the top. The wire would be welded wire as it would give it stiffness and help keep predators out. (Optionally line the bottom with wire mess for young chicks.) The back would be plywood both giving it stability and a place to hang a nesting box inside with an access door. Could also hang a PVC feeder and water can on the outside of the plywood that feeds to the inside.
I saw 6' x 8' tarp for $6.00 at Home Depot yesterday.
Just dreaming. Please poke holes in this. Looking to hone in some good ideas.

I'm going to keep an eye on this as well. I've searched BYC for breeder pen threads, and it seems like most of them are too old and don't have legit picture links anymore. I'm getting ready to build some breeder pens and have gotten a few ideas from the regular coop build thread, but it would be nice to see some from established breeders too :)

You are very welcome

What ideas do you have already? It would be good to get this thread going again as there really is not a lot of ideas on BYC.

I have just completed both my pens. They do still need a few touch ups though like roosts and nest boxes.
I even added a frame and sand yesterday

I'm going to apologize in advance for stealing pics...I don't remember who either of these coops belong to, but in the interest of revamping this thread I will post them. If you own these coops and don't want me reposting your pic, let me know and I will take it down. If you do own these coops, and care to join in on the conversation, please let us know what you'd change, or what features you really like :) Thanks!

Right now I'm thinking that I'd like to use the bottom design rather than the top, mostly because of the way that the designated breeder pen area is laid out. If I remember correctly, this coop also had access from the back, which will be good because the outdoor run area will likely be a bit bigger than in the pic and also extended out into my horse pasture a little bit. I plan on having 6-7 of these side by side to accomodate all of the varieties I will be working with.

I like the top one more as a breeder pen and because you can move it. The bottom one is more of a permanent coop.

Maybe I'm being a little narrow minded....why would you want to move a breeder pen? It seems like, if on uneven ground, it would welcome attack from a number of predators.
