Ooh! Let me know if you ever do! I love my Australorps and colored eggs are so much funI want to breed an Australorp to lay colored eggs. Not sure if this already exists. Let me know if it does please. Australorps are one of my favorite chooks and everyone loves coloured eggs. Not sure if this will ever happen but it's good to dream.
I'll probably have to wait to move out before I do any breeding projects. If I do I'll create a thread on here though if I remember. Dad's letting me get an Australorp hen and rooster but he really only wants chickens he can eat if I hatch out roosters and no one wants them.Ooh! Let me know if you ever do! Here’s my Cornishx nn. Not the best pics of her. She’s a lot heavier now than in the pic. Oh and heres a tip, Cornish cross hens lay in the spring and fall. And their eggs are GIGANTIC!I'm going to start a meat breed project using Showgirl Silkies, Turkens, and Cornish X. It's mostly for fun, I want to start with something simple to learn about genetics. I'll make a separate thread when I start but here's what I want it to look like:View attachment 2896937I'm not sure how to get the tail-less look, maybe Araucana? What other breeds don't have tails? I'm also going to do a more ornamental project but I haven't decided yet. I've got some Rosecomb Bantam/OEGB eggs in the incubator so I'll update when they hatch.
One of my Cornish X only lays double yolks so her eggs are huge! My other girl hasn't started laying yet but she's squatting and her comb is bright red so hopefully soonHere’s my Cornishx nn. Wow that cool! I wouldn’t hatch the double Yonkers until you see if she’ll lay single yolk eggs. One of my Cornish X only lays double yolks so her eggs are huge! My other girl hasn't started laying yet but she's squatting and her comb is bright red so hopefully soon
Yeah, a lot of people told me it might be genetic so I probably won't use her. I get a lot of people wanting to buy her eggs but she only lays about every two weeksWow that cool! I wouldn’t hatch the double Yonkers until you see if she’ll lay single yolk eggs.
My big hen dose the same, some time 4 eggs in a row some time an egg a week.Yeah, a lot of people told me it might be genetic so I probably won't use her. I get a lot of people wanting to buy her eggs but she only lays about every two weeks
