My mother told me never to say hate, you should say dislike. Hate to me means I wish it was dead and I don't hate anything.

If it doesn't look like a real chicken I don't like it. Turken, Silkie, Showgirl, Polish, Games, even bantams of anything just does NOT look like a chicken. So, I don't like them. I like the look of an old fashioned fluffy little hen. Frizzles, I can tolerate...kinda. Beyond that, give me a heritage.

I find it very interesting how many people dislike RIRs based on their temperament. My first chickens were RIRs and they are nice. The rooster is as reliable as can be and has never looked crossways at me or my kids. He is actually a perfect rooster because he is good to people, nice to the hens, but he is tough enough to make the Anatolian pup respect him without picking on her unneccesarily. This batch of posts has convinced me to definitely keep a batch of babies from them because I may never get as sweet RIRs again from another source.

When it comes to RIRs I know Gary Ramey of South Carolina has some beauties, doubt he sexes them though - Most breeders don't unless they're already old enough. I think Chris08 has some too, at least he loves them. . . There was someone else too, can't remember the name.

Name a breed and there's people out there who specialize in them.
