I would give her a second chance, you really have nothing to loose but $5 on hay if you buy in bulkThere was one live kit with it’s ear chewed off on the wire this morning. She did not pull a nest at all. There was some blood in the nest box. I’m really hoping she didn’t eat them but have a bad feeling she did. I’m going to keep checking on her often. Anyone with advice on rabbits who eat their babies? Do you give them another chance at having babies or no? Gosh I’m not having good luck with this so far.
She could end up having more kits. Sometimes when a doe is cleaning the kits, she will accidentally bite the ear.I guess I can’t confirm if she ate any babies. Idk if she had any others or just had the one baby and chewed it’s ear (or maybe her nailed cut it off). She ate a lot of Timothy and alfalfa hay this morning. I put the single baby in her nest box but I’m not sure she’ll take care of it
I guess I will give her another try or two and may have to set up a camera in there to watch. She’s my only doe at breeding age now so it’s kind of disappointing!
Yay!!! Way to go Mir! Huck is the dad of these right? I see lots of dark markings and at least one solid color??Mirabelle had 6 kits today!View attachment 3159079View attachment 3159080
I’ve been checking throughout the day. If she does, I’m assuming she’s waiting until tonight. But since she didn’t pull a nest at all, idk if her motherly instincts have kicked in to take care of them. Guess we will wait and see!She could end up having more kits. Lots of darks, solid isn't possible since I bred two brokens. One orange. One is so black (probably chestnut) it looks pure, but it has white on its belly.Yay!!! Way to go Mir! Huck is the dad of these right? I see lots of dark markings and at least one solid color??
Yes! I'm so sorry this happened. Your doe's will mature FAST though, so I wouldn't get too worried.I’ve been checking throughout the day. If she does, I’m assuming she’s waiting until tonight. Oh ok! That’s the one I probably saw then. I can’t wait to see their colors come in. I’ll have to live vicariously through your little kits for a while haha.Lots of darks, solid isn't possible since I bred two brokens. One orange.
