Broodies Doing Great...Nora and Panda- Bad News re: Smoky's

Oops, was thinking you had porcelains, too. My mistake. No rush. If Panda manages to hatch just one of these, I won't need to buy her a baby.

Omigosh, I may have another broody, my Smoky. Though her sister, Dusty, was broody twice last year, Smoky never has been. She has been on the nest for about five hours today, no egg, and she almost took DH's hand off when he reached into the nest. I don't need this! Bad Smoky, bad.

This morning, Panda has a little Barred Rock baby (Fern x Dutch). DH felt Smoky's egg and says that it's pipped. I have to go to get my bone density test this afternoon so will be gone a few hours, but will report in afterward.

Smoky was on the nest with her egg this morning, but ran out with everyone and is still out after about 30 minutes. Not sure she really gets what she's supposed to do, but if she pulls back and becomes normal again (well, normal for her anyway), I'm fine with that. I really don't want another broody to deal with right now.

Lori, you don't have to send me any pics, but thanks! Panda has her one baby and will probably have two if the Orp egg hatches okay. Today is Day 21.

Do you ship hatching eggs, I would love some of your mixes, I think that would be cool. I would have to get an incubator

Here it is, Smoky and Seude's latest baby (blue Orpington) with broody mama, Panda (barred EE). The Barred Rock is a pullet-yea!

It's so cute!!!! My hen went broody in mid spring. Nine days before the eggs were supposed to hatch a black chicken snake got into the coop, killed the hen and ate almost all of the eggs

Only two remained but they are ADDORIBLE! One looks excactly like her mama and the other looks a lot like HER mother (they have different mothers

That Blue baby is a tubby already! I am so glad to hear that the BR is a girl. You know you love those BRs, and you will love this little girl, too! She will be a great addition to your flock.
Let's start hearing the names.

Kathy, the Fern baby that Nora hatched is male and the one Panda hatched is female. Happened just like that when I incubated some of Fern's eggs, an equal number of each. The Orp will take a bit more time, though.

Louieandthecrew, I see you're in GA like me. What part?

Oooh i had no idea you hatched another batch, wow there so cute ! Really Adorable Cynthia! I love to see natural Incubation, thats the way i try to go too
