Broody Duck Hen

So, some sad news. The dogs managed to get into the pen again and got our drake (Roro). The females are fine, but one of the eggs was crushed. The two older ones are fine but only one of the eggs from the 19th made it.

Oh my gosh so sorry. Who’s dogs? Well give one to one girl and the two other to the other one and fortify your pen I’d hate for you to lose the rest.

It was our own dogs, which in a way makes it worse.

I asked my mom about separating the females and she said it’s probably best not to so they don’t see each other’s ducklings as a threat and will raise them together.

Plus we were thinking about putting the ducklings from the incubator with the mamas. The ones in the incubator are a few days ahead so could we slip them in as soon as they hatch, or wait until the broody’s eggs hatch?

That can be tricky not sure if she'll accept them before maybe during how many? They aren't like chickens and accept chicks.

We have 13 in the incubator, but only 8ish look good.
