Broody Duck Hen

She might be back at it. Trying not to get my hopes up this time. She’s been in the dog house pretty much all day and anytime I go near the duck pen, she fluffs her feathers up and starts shaking and hissing.

I’ll give her a few days to see if she sticks with it, then I’ll give her some good eggs.

She may have given up on the eggs, but she won’t give up on trying to become Jasmine and Jade’s momma. :love

She is trying to teach them to eat and drink.

Our Rouen drake (Roro) has become so much sweeter to them now that the other drakes are gone(they are living a happy life with someone who drove 3 hours round trip just to pick them up). He still gives them a little nip here and there but he’s just telling them who’s in charge.

Both got the broody bug for a day or two, but Rosy gave up.

Smokey’s sticking with it for now. I’m pretty sure she has 5 eggs, 4 duck and 1 chicken. The chicken egg isn’t really supposed to be in there, I set it down just inside the house when I fed them (I was going to take it into the house afterwards) but Smokey took it and won’t give it up. I’ll have to take though, it will hatch before the ducks if I let her stay on it.

They’re both back at it. There’s 4 duck eggs, all marked. I know for chickens, you aren’t supposed to have two of them nesting together, is it the same for ducks? They’ve been doing great the past few days. They’ve become so attached to the eggs that I have to bring water to them, or they won’t drink. The only time they both get out is in the morning for breakfast. They do come out a few times during the day but take turns taking breaks.

It’s only day 3(?), once they get further along should I separate them?
