SO day 18 is not so early.

I opened the coop so Mama Violetta could get outside. She’d been begging me to let her out. Juno, now 5 days old would not come even tho mama called. Yet. There’s a ramp and it’s almost 2’ to the ground.
Mama had taught her to drink out of the nipple waterer.

So while Mama was outside, Juno got back in the nest and entertained herself drinking from this fun gadget.

I haven’t tried.....but I’m resting my hand nearby so she gets used to it. Violetta isn’t tame herself. But she seems to accept my presence.

Get a leaf of lettuce and just hold it out to them. Even the non-tame chickens will come right up to you for lettuce. The will tear off little bits

I'm a bit late, hope it's ok. She's got barred rock blood in her and I was disapointed to learn that the breed doesn't usually become broody. Well, surprise surprise

I never had a broody before, should be a mama around the 20th
