I can probably get pics this afternoon
Well this girl goes broody every year (she’s the one in my profile pic) and we have no rooster. I have neighbors with chickens so I get their hopefully fertile eggs and let her sit and hatch out babies. Not sure what kind? An Olive Egger, Ameracauna for sure but the rest?? I started with 16, gave her 3 and was going to incubate the rest but the incubator couldn’t keep its temp so I lost some and a few were infertile. 4 more went under her last night and they looked good when I candled. Fingers crossed!!
fluffiest bed ever!
Nope. One of the chicks is still quite young and wet. Pippin is trying to hatch one of the eggs.fluffiest bed ever!
Is pippin finally off the nest now?
I think what someone did was to take the first hatched chick away so that the broody doesn't get distracted with the need to take care of the soon to be hungry baby.Nope. One of the chicks is still quite young and wet. Pippin is trying to hatch one of the eggs.
Do you think if I take the egg away she will get off the nest? I can put it in my incubator and if it hatches I can return the chick to her
