Broody now!

I had thought I had posted this.
I now have a CM on 7-8 eggs and a BO on 7 eggs.
I got eggs from a friend who has Lave Amer/EE crosses (4) and I went to an auction and bought a doz BR's . So each hen has 2 EE/Amer crosses and 5 BR's. The CM has one of her own. I tossed the other two BR's as they were so dirty I couldn't even eat them, but that's another story.

My incu has 23 due to hatch on the 29-30th. I never expect them all to hatch but I can dream can't I?

Thank you.

I was having the same problem with them taking up all of the nest boxes but my girls are so nice and polite, they would wait patiently in line until it was their turn. As you, I am so overwhelmed, I'm losing my mind. I'm lucky to have people that I know that will come over and build me a chicken coop, chicken house or brooder within a few days. I'm at my wits end with the broodiness but I hate to disturb what comes natural for them. I just love to see them broody and then being a mother. I've been averaging a broody every other day or every 2 days. Gotta Love It !

MY HEN IS ON LOCKDOWN TOMMROW!@!!@!@! SHES ALMOST THERE I CANT WAIT ANYMORE!

Ummm... don't lockdown a hen, only an incubator.

Um, yeah we do here with a broody. She does it herself on the last couple of days where she will not get off the eggs, and food and water have to be in reach for her. If you can't do that in her space, it's time to get her off the nest to take a 5 minute break of eat, drink, poo, then back on the nest in record time.
We called it "lockdown" the first time a broody did it all by herself and the name has stuck ever since.

It is one thing when a broody will not get off the nest on her own and a person takes them off the nest to eat and drink, (which would be the opposite of "lockdown", in my opinion), and someone intentionally restraining a hen to the nest because it is 3 days before hatch. That was what I was concerned about.
