Broody Silkie turned adoptive mother!

Well, all are out and about for the first time.. all seem well..
Maybe since they stayed under mama so much they were being kept too warm?

Looks like the sunny weather brought them out. Our duck that hatched ducklings relatively early in the year kept them in their little coop for a few days before she took them out.

Thanks!! I’m trying not to worry too much and just let the natural process take place! BUT.. I am a worry wart :barnie
You can stop the worry train now! She is taking care of those chicks! She will show them how to scratch and how to roost and they will follow her everywhere! You can relax and let nature take it's course now! Very, very cute little group, I love it! Sorry about little Nina it's hard to loose one, but focus on your little chick family! :jumpy

Thank you :)
One question.. is it normal for them to scratch around for only about 10 minutes and then her call them back and just sit on them again?... All aboard the “crazy train”!!.. that’s more like it for me
It seems little Lucy wants to be out and about.. she is very feisty! Always sitting on mamas back!

Perfectly normal! She'll do that for a few days then once they are good at staying close and answering her calls she will back off a bit.. kinda like human moms and their littles..lol
