I HATE when people call their Buff Orpingtons “buffs“ “buffies” “buff” “Buffy” etc... Orpingtons aren’t the only breeds that come in buff you know.
Haha.... I named my buff brahma Buffy.... soooooooooo original. I got tired of referring to her as "the buff brahma." (Yes, yes, I know this is supposed to be a booooo on buff Orpington thread)

She just has this scrappy look to her. I cannot really describe it. The Australorps have a delicate head and face, the EE's are cute with their beards and muffs, the Isa browns look like little raptors and poor Orpy just looks like a mean lil scrapper🤷 like I said though, she is a great mum! Just went broody again 2 days ago and I just purchased a dozen eggs to set under her!

Said as I run off to clean the entire house so hubs doesn't really notice all the eggs under her :lau
Ah, I get it! Ya, mine's a little baby despite her not being a grand English Orp! She's a little sweetie and super adorable! On that note I believe I'll be leaving this thread for now :D

I thought that was more for like sex links and leghorns and stuff? RIR aren’t too high production I don’t think.
Well, red sex links are half RIR. A lot of common hatchery breeds are just bred for egg production and little else. That’s why the apparently “dual purpose” buff Orpington isn’t much bigger than an RIR. Actually, RIRs are supposed to be dual purpose too, but the hatchery ones really aren’t. Other hatchery breeds I would consider high production are black australorps, barred rocks, and Easter eggers. (I listed specific variety because the most common variety is usually the one farthest removed from the standard.)
