Buff Orpingtons: Pullets or Cockerels

Are these chicks pullets? They were vent sexed as pullets by the hatchery. Number 2 is slightly larger than the other. Both are equally friendly. Number 2 with the more noticeable comb is definitely highest on the pecking order of my four chicks. They’re about 5 weeks old.

Too early, but if I were to place a bet right now, I'd say you have a pair, but I'd watch #1 closely, #2 I'm guessing cockerel with little doubts.

Yeah, I figured 2 might be a cockerel because its waddle is definitely larger than #1 and it’s comb+waddle are redder than #1. #1 still doesn’t have a visible waddle, really, but I noticed that its comb looks more pink today. I’m hoping that I’m just being hypercritical and #1 is at least a pullet.

I found my two buff orpingtons hard to tell. One looked so much looked like a pullet the other was bright red both were girls!
