We really need a lot more info to troubleshoot problems like these that are specific to your browser, computer, etc. This is an example of an issue that is definitely not happening to everyone, or even the majority of our users. Here are a few questions that will help us find, duplicate, and hopefully resolve the problem:

• What is the URL of the page where you had problems, or is it all pages?
• What were the exact steps you took before having the problem? Please be as specific as possible so we can do exactly what you did.
• How long has it been happening? If only one time, what day and time did it happen?
• Which browser and version are you using (eg., Firefox 3.5.9, Internet Explorer 7, etc.)
• Have you logged out, deleted your internet cache, logged back in, and tried again?
• Have you tried a different browser?
• Have you tried a different computer?

I had noticed when I am making a post or replying I noticed that when I hit enter it doesnt break the paragraphs? (I hope that makes sense).

I use both firefox and explorer. Before this site changed, I used to go through the pages really fast and now it is so slow? And I am a uber fast speed and I do delete my cookies and clean the cache every day.

Thanks for a great site though!

i don't know all the answers of what you need but here goes.. i don't know what "url" means but it has been happening for several months when ever i try to go thru the forum , i will go thru several pages on a topic and when i try to go back to the first page i was readeding on that is when i have to hit the back button so many times, when i hold down on the back button it will display about the last ten or so pages i was on , it shows google ads about 13 to 17 times before it shows the page i just came from. as far as time of day - it doesn't matter. the browers i use is Internet Exployer7, i have been logged out for months as for some reason i keep getting signed out, as you can see i don't post very often, what.. do i have to post every so often to stay logged in ? finally i don't have a different brower nor do i have any other computer .

rottdog, if you are going to continue to use IE7 there are a couple of things to try: IE/tools menu/internet options/GENERAL/history/settings/check the button next to `Check for new version of webpage Every Time' (think default is Automatically) then click OK. Go to the ADVANCED tab and scroll down through the options until you get to SECURITY, Check the box next to `Empty temporary internet files when browser is closed' (run into a problem just exit IE and start it again). CCleaner is a free program that can do this more thoroughly: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
It seems the `back' button (how the command is interpreted) is sometimes a problem when gooole tool bar is installed, as well as several other less common combinations of other browsers/software. I'd suggest returning to previous pages by clicking on the page numbers at bottom of threads.

If it is possible to download another, more current browser. One I've been using with some success:

http://www.comodo.com/home/browsers-toolbars/browser.php

A URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is just directions to, and the address arrived at (the page we are on, for instance - appears in the address bar at top of screen: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/618521/bugs-problems-with-the-new-platform/420 ). Let's say you are clicking back to a previous page and run into a google ad - just highlight the address/Rclick and COPY. Open your text editor/MS Word/etc. and press Ctrl+V to save that address into the open document (might be of use tracking down the error). Also include what thread you were in at the time.

Do you mean you are `logged out' while you are posting or reading on the site?

Wow, IE 7. Please keep in mind that the IE 7 browser came out in 2006! That's 6 years ago... in fact, that was just a few months after YouTube was created!

The engineers are working hard to improve the performance of the site, but we strongly suggest that everyone upgrade to the newest versions of their browser.... and not just for BYC, but for their entire internet experience (to make it faster and more secure).

All of the browsers can be downloaded for free: Speed up your BYC (we especially suggest Chrome or Firefox).
