Bumblefoot - Calling All Crunchy Natural Folks

Miss Lydia you're qwaking we up with the by quakity :P

Amiga interesting you say you're working on your tastes so you can make due when neccessary; we kinda do the same thing - keeping it limited to foods that are nutrient-dense and really no excessiveness. Our poor deprived children don't even enjoy sweets much because they're used to not having them. We looove honey, though. And maple syrup is great. And we also avoid soy - no to phytoestrogens, thank you.

I'm definitely going to have to try the bread with coconut oil thing because she was not at all interested in taking it straight.

Let us know what you think of your "fatty coffee" Miss Lydia!

I am trying it first thing in the morning . I love honey too it really makes a great cup of herb tea.
Most of my ducks outside probably wouldn't try the coconut straight only Opie who thinks he is suppose to have any thing the dogs have he should have.
I am happy to qwak you up Homesteadin, by quakity .

Remeber when Soy milk etc was all the rage and was suppose to be so good for you? Just goes to show we can't believe hardly anything we hear.

Remember to blend the coffee with oil/butter, otherwise they just sit melted on top. I do remember when soy milk was all the rage! And tofu and soy nuts and soy protein powder... and farther back in the day "they" (including doctors) said cigarettes were good for our health... whaaa?

The only thing I don't like honey in is coffee; tastes like cigars ew ew ew.

Cat kibble a la coconut oil - good idea!

Well, by quakity, ya'll have a good night.

yes cat kibble mine love, so today Opie came in and I put the coconut oil in with his dry dog kibble[yes he like both cat and dog kibble.] he gobbled it right up.

I mixed the butter and oil into my coffee this morning and by quakity it was good. Was rich and creamy and I have a feeling I am going to have chapped lips from licking my lips afterward so will have to use the coconut oil for that too. Couldn't get dh to try it though the butter and C oil ..

Oh my I can't imagine putting honey into coffee yuck.

I haven't even made it out to the ducks yet this morning to let them out and give that female (her name is Bobbie - our oldest named her after my DH's boss haha) some more attention. They're probably feeling pretty grumpy towards me. By the way yesterday I had just Jo and his favorite (the two who were picking on Daisy) separated from the rest for half the day, then I let just the female out and she still picked on Daisy. I have a feeling the same will happen if I let Jo out and keep the female separated because he seems to be even more of a meanie to her. Any other ideas? Or just keep at it until they finally give in?

Yaaaay for fatty coffee. Supposedly when you drink it that way it gives you more extended energy from the coffee without making you jittery, so that's a plus. We started drinking it that way a few years ago and haven't gone back. We actually roast our own coffee beans too so we can save money on buying good-quality coffee. We can't even drink Starbucks anymore.

Funny your husband didn't want to try it - mine gave me quite a funny look when I started doing that and when he finally tried it he liked it!

Some folks are just really conservative about food. I'm pretty willing to try stuff. TMI ALERT!!! Ate roasted ants once. Buttery. Crunchy. Now the duck world knows more about me than I probably ought to have shared.

Okay, back to normal now.

I had coffee with cream this a.m., gonna try the butter soon. And the main reason I put cream or oil in my coffee is to buffer the acid for my tummy. But it would make sense that it turns the caffeine into more of a slow-release. Hmmmmm. I also eat a handful of nuts in the morning (you are what you eat, right?), always gets me off to a good start.

Duckies are still zugunruhing. Romy came off the nest for a little while, took a swim, ending up winning a sumo wrestling match with little Sechs, who got some backup from Fünf. All that got hurt was Sechs' pride. She stands her ground, I tell ya.

Romy's little tongue is the prettiest shade of pale pink! I get to see it quite a bit when she's broody, as she's constantly fussing.

Well, I am wandering off the bumblefoot track, here, aren't I?

I am willing to try stuff too, but I think when it comes to bugs I would really really have to work up an appetite backed by some adrenaline or something to actually eat them. Wow. I am more willing to try stuff like tripe and cow brains and such like that - at least it's still from an animal I eat anyway and there are ways to prepare those things to at least give good flavor. I do have a HARD time with texture though...

I usually do add a little something for "cream" in my coffee too - we usually do a splash of raw milk. And we eat a lot of nuts around here too! I always have to soak them in salt water and dehydrate them, though, so the anti-nutrients don't upset our tummies (especially mine). I didn't even know anything about that until I started getting stomach pains every time I ate nuts, particularly almonds.

We've been having quite the food discussion :)

It's fun to hear more about your birds, Amiga. Funny to picture them sumo wrestling, hehehe. Didn't you have a khaki campbell that hatched out with no hatchmates when you incubated this past Spring? How's she doing these days?

I wasn't the hatcher, no, but we did adopt a single 2-pound cayuga girl a couple of months ago.  She is so wee tiny!  But spunky!

Oh I confused you with someone else then who was helping me way back when I was getting our flock started with incubating eggs. Sorry bout that! What's the little Cayuga's name?
