Bumblefoot Surgery | How much to cut out?

Hey y’all,

I’m doing surgery on my hens bumble foot soon but I don’t know where to cut. I seen videos where they remove the black plug/scab and then they dig out the core of pus or whatever it is. So Is that all I have to cut out?

I mostly follow the advice found in the above article. Instead of the sink, I use a dishpan and place it in the bathtub- easier cleanup. I also soak the feet for about 10 minutes and then do not need to cut with a razor blade or scalpel. The scab and plug can be removed just using tweezers. I try not to damage the healthy tissue even if it means repeating the bumblefoot removal procedure in a couple of weeks.
Edited: I use a dishpan, I never was a dishpan
