Hi there!! I read through this post and several others describing bumblefoot surgery. My duck (a very large jumbo pekin) had a huge bumble covering the back pad of her foot. I got all of the supplies, soaked her foot in Epsom salt as started cutting away at the huge mass. I sprayed with hydrogen peroxide throughout the surgery of about 15 minutes and then wrapped up her foot and put a vinyl shoe on it.
She bled a lot during the surgery, so I changed the bandage and wrapped it very tightly an hour later to stop all of the bleeding. After 30 more minutes, she was dead. I feel horrible obviously and wish I had just taken her to a vet. I didn't see any other posts about ducks bleeding to death during the bumblefoot surgery, so I thought it wasn't going to happen. Please keep an eye on bleeding, especially if it is a large wound. I wish I had been smarter and hadn't killed my favorite duck
