Bump on duck's foot

So the scab seemed to come back bigger, and the bump has grown a little- I'll try to get a photo later- I finally have some proper duck boots, but now whenever I try to do anything with her feet, she just kicks her legs super fast, and wont stop. I try different positions, but in every one she shakes her feet- I could have vet wrap, my homemade socks, or proper boots on halfway, and then KICK KICK KICK KICK. It's frustrating, I know she doesnt understand I'm trying to help her, but it makes it impossible to do without risk of injuring her-
We were at it for a while this morning, in the end I had to stop because her heart was beating so hard. She had a cuddle, and is fine. But I don't know what to do.
How can I keep her still?

Are you wrapping her in a towel burrito style? What I do is wrap and lay them on their backs with their feet laying away from me that gives me better control of their feet. It helps to keep them from thrashing around so much.

Ive tried with a towel and without, and she still just kicks her feet at the speed of lightning 😬
I'm going to have a second pair of hands help try again later on- it'll help me to be faster, but I still dont know how I'll manage if she's not keeping still 😕

Your going to have to have help and hold onto that leg as you work.
I'll probably wrap Spright in a towel, and have my mum hold her on her back, then I'll have to try and get the drawing salve and boots on, we'll see :fl
In the meantime, I'm looking around for an avian vet, in case it all fails miserably. I searched around for a vet way back, but none of them take poultry. I'm doing a big more digging a bit further out and hopefully something comes up so we have a plan B. It won't be cheap, but if I dont manage to treat this and get it under control, I'd rather it was dealt with properly so the infection doesn't spread!

I love my girls so much. Sprightly loves cuddles and strokes, but used to run away when I'd pick her up, sometimes, but Im currently "training" her, and she's starting to learn to come when called and lets me pick her up! In fact, if they know I'm taking them somewhere nice, they politely ask for pick ups. Dougie has done this for a very long time, but Spright is just starting to get the hang of it! I don't even have to bribe her with treats lol

She'll forgive you for having to hold her and work on her. They don't hold a grudge forever. I have a Runner in a dog x pen now with a limp and a bumble I am going to let her rest today and decide the plan not sure if its the tiny bumble or she hurt herself running up and down the hill in their fenced in area. And she does not like to be handled so this should be fun. Although she is my only duck that had bumble before that required a vet visit.

but they do hold a grudge temporarily!! lol. Spright is very expressive with her emotions, I can tell by looking at her if she's physically uncomfortable, upset, spooked, tired, happy or wanting affection- she even does this body language signal where she dips her head to tell me she "wants" something, be it something has covered the food bowl, or she wants some affection-
But sometimes she gets upset with me, and she will hang her head just a little bit and look at me out of the corner of her eye- and if I dare try to touch her, she will turn around and give me the cold shoulder, she's happy and normal, as long as I give her space. Usually this is the result of me putting her inside while she was having fun, or not having treats. She's fine after a few hours, or I give her a treat and she loves me again. But sometimes I have no idea what I have done to offend her. 😂 Dougie doesn't do any of this.
Sprightly's a funny character, I love her so much.

Good luck with your runner!

Even with my mum holding her wrapped in a towel- she just wont stop kicking her legs- I can get as far as placing her foot in the shoe, but when I try to close the strap, she kicks frantically and it comes off- I tried many times. It just will not stay on, she won't let her legs stay still even for 10 seconds. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong

Is the bumble open? In other words, you haven't opened it? if not then just leave it alone. If it continues to get worse all i can rec is either getting a vet to take care of it or someone that has poultry that can help while you hold her. Just wait till bedtime to put anything on it so she can't get into water.
